Location of Jal Mahal: - On way to the Amer fort next to the Ghettore cenotaph is the jal mahal palace which is situated in the midst of Man sagar lake.
The palace was constructed in the eighteenth century and is the top attraction of Jaipur Tours. The palace is a five storied structure and appears as floating in the waters of Man Sagar Lake. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II is known for the present structure of the jal Mahal. The name suggests a structure situated in water and indeed the four stories of the palace are always submerged under the water of man sagar lake, The top stories being visible paint a perfect picture of a palace in the midst of a lake. The extreme corners of the palace have octagonal kiosk/ canopies while the centre has a Rajasthani chattri. Boats are available to explore the palace.
Just adjacent to the Amer road the road side has been developed in to a beautiful park. Tourists come here and there is a mela every evening in which the road side vendors sell eatables, handicrafts souvenirs etc. If you are in Jaipur you can enjoy your evening by spending quality time on the bank of man sagar lake, strolling around silently witnessing the sunset. Do enjoy the street food at jal Mahal Amer road.
